Environmental sustainability, and renewable energy in particular, look to be the defining trends of the next decade worldwide, with $16 trillion – larger than the annual U.S. economy – set to be invested. Spark is right at the center of this, signing deals to get new wind and solar projects built, engineering the facilities, supervising their construction, maintaining them over time, and selling green power to our customers. Even during the pandemic year of 2020, we saw record numbers of companies signing up for large-scale renewable energy across North America. As we grow on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border, renewable energy will have a major impact.
This issue of Off the Wire brings you stories about how Spark’s Renewables and Sustainability (a.k.a. Bullfrog) divisions are not just along for the renewable energy ride, but in some ways, are helping to drive it.

SAFETY MOMENT
Life Saving Rules
At Spark Power, we are committed to the safety of our employees and customers, and operate using an “Only Zero is Acceptable” policy. To build a zero-incident safety culture, we have established a set of seven Life Saving Rules, which are helping us create a consistent approach for the mitigation of incidents and injuries. By providing our employees with these critical guidelines, they can best serve your facilities and arrive prepared to perform. We are excited to announce that Spark, supported by our sustainability division, Bullfrog Power, is preparing to offer solar solutions to new and existing customers in California in the coming weeks. These solar solutions will lower electricity costs, protect customers from rising energy rates, and shrink their carbon footprint. These flexible solutions make it easy for businesses to produce their own solar energy or buy affordable power produced on their roof through a zero-capital financing solution. Additionally, Spark can also improve energy reliability by adding battery storage.
Did you know that we offer O&M and renewable asset management as part of our technical services? We connected with some of our field team members to share exciting details with you on how both ground mounted and rooftop solar panels work.
